Study Group for Productivity Improvement and Work Efficiently (3rd Session)
This will be the third lecture given by instructor Mr. Matsubara for Corporation Organizational Theory.
Today, we reflected on the nature of our team by using fishing as an analogy.
A: An experienced fisherman who caught 50 fish
B: A mid-level fisherman who caught 40 fish
C: A newcomer who caught 10 fish
D: The person who operated the boat
E: The person who responsible for procuring bait and supplies
When the instructor asked, "How would you distribute the fish among everyone?" the room was filled with confusion!
As everyone pondered their answers, some suggested that A, who caught the most fish, should receive the largest share, while others proposed distributing the fish equally, 20 fish each. Among these individual thoughts, it was noted that A should get more because they were also mentoring C. It was suggested that next, B should take on the role of instructor, as teaching would allow for a review of the finer techniques. Many valuable insights emerged from the discussion.
Ultimately, we considered how these ideas could be applied to the company:
・ Fishing represents individual contributions to the company,
・The company operates through collaboration among different departments,
・We should think about specific goals and take action.
Furthermore, after taking action, we learned to reflect on what worked well and what didn’t,
understanding that growth do not depend on years of experience or position!
We will all work together on this!
I'm really looking forward to the next lecture (the fourth session).
